Innovative Weather started as an idea. How can
we make immediately available to the community our expertise
in operational and research meteorology, with a service component
that focuses on client needs? How can we accomplish this while
enhancing the educational mission of the University by providing
valuable real-world experience to our students? With support
from the College of Letters and Sciences at the University
of Wisconsin at Milwaukee (UWM), that idea has been translated
into both action and opportunity.
Innovative Weather is a client-oriented weather service provider.
We are staffed by advanced meteorology students, most of whom
are degreed meteorologists, already fully qualified to work
for professional entities such as the National Weather Service,
and working towards advanced degrees. Additional key staffing
is filled by academic staff and faculty of the Atmospheric
Science Group of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at
UWM.
With these resources, Innovative Weather is
pioneering a new business model in the weather forecasting
industry: an operational staff that is focused on service,
delivered with integrity to select clients that are willing
to pay for better value. Innovative Weather’s customized
solutions, molded to fit client operations and enhanced by
the latest operational research, means no longer having to
settle for the usual, and provides substantial opportunity
to limit the financial and operational impact of adverse weather.
