Academia
- Through Innovative
Weather, our graduate and senior level students have
the chance to broaden their academic studies into the realm
of operational and research meteorology, gaining a wealth
of experience not afforded most meteorology programs.
Students in turn, bring back to the program, a heightened
awareness of the forecast/client process and an appreciation
for serving the community. Upon graduation they will
take these skills into their careers making a difference in
the communities they serve.
Research
- Through Innovative
Weather, research
being conducted at UW-Milwaukee has the chance to immediately
be put into operational use. This weather research has
a chance to address real world problems with solutions that
often take many years to come to the public sector.
Furthermore, the operational exposure to weather phenomena
and forecast issues can open the door to new research opportunities
that can be immediately addressed in our research environment
and adapted to the specific needs of the client community
Community
- Through Innovative
Weather,
the user community now has a chance to define a scope of services
tailored to the specific needs of clients in the community.
They have a chance to bring forecast issues, unaddressed by
today's private companies and in turn, be a part of a solution
to their own operational weather challenges. The community
has the ability to get what they need from a 24/7 weather
provider.
University
- Through Innovative
Weather,
the Univerisity of Wisconsin, Milwaukee has the opportunity
to bring student, academia and community together in an effort
to work toward common goals that help each other, while
fulfilling the core mission of the University.
